What were you doing this past September 11th? We were up early, got the coffee going, the children were moving at their normal break neck pace, and at 8a.m. we hung our flag outside, took a moment to reflect, explained the meaning of "Patriot Day" to our little children, as they look at the flag flapping in the sun. At 8:46 a.m. we began our moments of silence, and continued till each event of that horrific day in history came to a close.
Even though many of my friends are hundreds, or thousands of miles away, we were together that day, and celebrated the many acts of heroism, and fortitude that I hope will always be the meaning of that day in history. To lessen it by, giving direct attention to the cowards that caused so much meaningless, human carnage, is to dishonor those that gave everything to help their fellow human beings.
To the Fireman, Police Officers, Medical Personnel, Military Personnel and all First Responders, we salute you, God Bless.
This weekend is the event run in Yellow Springs, "A Wool Gathering" my kiddos and I will be attending so, if you want to join us, look for a long haired (almost to my bum) brunette, with 3 little kiddos 8 years and under running about, enjoying the handmade wears. There will be animals of all fiber types, rabbits, and sheep of course, and perhaps alpaca and more. I am looking forward to playing with some spinning wheels, niddy noddy, and of course fiber! There are going to be a wonderful array of vendors there, and I am sure they are in a flurry setting up their tents, and tables as I type this.
This will be a one hour road trip for the children and me, and the kiddos will have lots of room to move, and see new things, and enjoy the festival as they always do. All of this will be followed up with a visit to "Young's Dairy" to get some ice cream. Young's has amazing ice cream delights, and we will be sampling plenty, lol.
Last of all the Podcast (iTunes version / Podbean version...to say it was easy is not correct. I have put three other podcast episodes up without any issue but, this one threw me for a loop. It ended up being a size issue, apparently going four minutes longer than the last one, caused the size to require FTP instead of the normal upload I do with Podbean. It all turned out fine but, I was upset that I didn't get it OUT by the 15th, I didn't figure it out, or the it uploaded till the 16th, boo.
Thank you to those of you that wrote to me to tell me it was not working, I was working diligently to get that taken care of, and it feels good to know each of you care enough to drop us a line and inform us, it means a lot. :)
Everything else is going well, I am currently finishing up some little socks for my four year old daughter, and as the days, and nights get cooler here, it is really getting me into that big knits sitting on my lap, and the yarn building one row at a time. It is knit season!!! Then again, all year is knit season for me but, the bigger, bulkier, yarns are more fun to play with in the cold months. Bring on the long johns patterns, Elizabeth Zimmerman style!
That is about it for this one but, I hope to see some of you this weekend!
